Chatting With Freeburg Senior Athlete Tucker Murphy - Name To Watch

So, in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know, but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. This is one of the many reasons why Deep Dish Football is respected in the IHSA. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Tucker Murphy Freeburg RB/WR/DB Class Of 2024 5'9 165

Tucker Murphy how is your season going so far? So far so good. We have lost 3 and 2 were legit. Breese Central and Roxana were true losses, those are both great teams. Jerseyville is a great team too, but we definitely should have beat them. This week vs Salem and best against Waterloo are going to be huge games for us. If we win both we will be in the playoffs. We have a couple lineman hurt this season and that has really effected us. Coach uses me as our RB and my numbers/stats aren’t really impressive but I’m grinding and working hard! Hopefully we can get the W for next two weeks because I am not ready for this to be over. What should college coaches know about you? I’m a diverse player with an excellent football iq. I can see the field and know where I need to be and where I am going to go. I am playing running back this year, I’m aware I’m “only” 5’8” 165 lbs, but when you play with as much heart and knowledge as I do, those numbers are just that, numbers. My ideal spot is a slot receiver, but that’s not the offense we run. In college, I want to go where I can play and help my team anytime and anywhere they need me. I am corner or safety on defense and kick off return. I’m shifty and have good hands. I’m the guy that can be stuck wherever he is needed and get the job done. I’m not a selfish player and just want the W, whatever it takes to get it! I will work all year on becoming bigger and better, football is my life.

What does football mean to you? It’s literally everything to me. I was a state champion bull rider. My whole family rodeos, I gave it up. I’d do anything to play football. I breathe it, eat it and sleep it. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? I’m a leader. Guys come to me when they forget the plays. I motivate, encourage and push for the best out of everyone. What has been your favorite memory so far this season? Probably beating Columbia on homecoming night on our field. What goals do you have for yourself rest of the season? For myself? Make the playoffs. Make all-conference again (preferably all-state ha). To get 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 all purpose yards.

What would be your dream school to play for? Wherever I get to play for four years and go to the national championship. (To be coached by Nick Saban would be the ultimate).
