High school football is the greatest thing because of pure parity. What is up last year could be down this year and what is down last year can up this year. ANYTHING AND I MEAN ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN IN IHSA FOOTBALL. Last year, 2022 was mild to surprises and was calm predictable season. CENTRAL STATE EIGHT 2023 Season Preview

Lincoln returns to the Central State Eight conference for 2023. Rochester, SHG, Glenwood are in for a epic battle this season. Rochester looks pretty strong enough but again questions are at the skill spots, but the first rule of CSE is never question the growth of Rockets. That Rochester coaching staff knows how to put their kids in the best spot to win. State Champ Sacred Heart Griffin loses Legend Coach Ken Leonard who retires, but SHG doesn't lose a step with skilled defensive players returning. The Cyclones will need a new QB, top WR targets to show up. What I can see from film, SHG won't have problem with that. Glenwood looks strong this season with Hay's squad looking like a top competitor this season with an underrated QB. Springfield, Jacksonville, Macarthur look to be the challengers this season with key skill players returning. Springfield looks really strong and ready to change the results of last season along with highly recruited player Hartman. Jacksonville losses their star QB but has plenty of trench of warriors ready to open holes to the endzone. Lincoln and University are my surprise teams for this season. I think University has the talent to shock some other teams this season. Lincoln looks prime for a couple upsets this season as well. Eisenhower just needs to finish a full season and challenge other teams. Southeast looks great on skill side but questions at the line arise. Lanphier needs to win early and to have chance this season. Big thing to watch with Lanphier, Southeast, Eisenhower, Lincoln, University limit mental mistakes early in the season.
