Ashton Gondeck how was your junior season? Fantastic! I took an additional role from my initial starting spot at quarterback to play receiver for my junior year and made all conference, and I also was the punter for my team this season. What does football mean to you? Football means a lot. It’s a great team building sport, and it taught me that not a single person can make up a team. No matter how good a single player is. It takes a total team effort. What should college coaches know about you? I prioritize my schoolwork first, which can be seen with my 3.95 GPA. Also, as can be seen from this season, I proactively switch from quarterback to receiver to make the team as strong as it can be. I will do whatever it takes and take on whatever role necessary, to support my team and make us as good as we can be together. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field? My willingness to be a team player and take on whatever role necessary to strengthen my team, as well as my athleticism ability and attitude to do so. What part of your game are you planning to work on in the offseason? I’m currently training at Next Level ATHLETIX for quarterback and receiver. Moreover, I’m also training for punting in Chicago. What schools have you talked to so far? I have a junior day in St. Thomas in Minnesota this weekend, a junior day at Dartmouth and have been in contact with coaches from NIU, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, and Eastern Michigan, and Miami of Ohio. What goals do you have for yourself upcoming season? I want to do whatever I can to get our team to a minimum of a second or third round qualification in the playoffs, and ultimately win the state title. Personally, I want to lead the team in the Quarterback and Wide Receiver positions and show others it is important to be coachable and have the ability to play more than one position. 1000+ yard season would also be a great way to cap off my high school career.
