Devan Van Ness Barrington Athlete Class of 2024 6'0 175
Devan Van Ness how was your Spring Season? It was a good season. Although it was short, I made the best out of it.What does football mean to you?To me, football means DISCIPLINE. Discipline to put time into mental prep, lifting and position training during the summer, then to follow it through to the season. If each player is disciplined, then we become a TEAM on the field and we gets the W’s.What should college coaches know about you?I’m a multi sport athlete. I played hockey for 8 years then transitioned to football and wrestling 2 years ago. I qualified for state in my first year of wrestling before the season was cancelled due to Covid in 2020. In 2 seasons I’ve won over 90% of my wrestling matches. My speed from hockey combined with the hand work I’ve learned from wrestling complement football very well. I pick up new concepts quickly and I’m very coachable. What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field?I have a high motor and I don’t like to be beat. I’m the youngest of four so I’ve had to fight for everything. This rolls over to the football field. How was your Wrestling Season?I was 15-1. There was no IHSA state wrestling tournament this year.
