Chatting With Rochester Big Man Wes Moore Class Of 2021

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for lllinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Wes Moore OL/DL Rochester Class of 2021 6'3 230

Wes Moore how was your 2019 season?

I think I had a solid season considering the circumstances. At the beginning of the season I wasn’t a starter because I got pretty sick during the summer and lost a lot of weight but I got my chance week 2 of the regular season when Chris Keorwitz broke his foot and from then on I just kept improving week to week and ended up starting every game after that

What position do you feel most comfortable at?

I feel most comfortable playing offensive tackle and defensive end because I usually get a 1 on 1 situation and I can use my athleticism and strength

What does football mean to you?

Football means a lot to me. I love the family aspect of football and working hard for the man next to you at practice and under the lights. I also love playing and seeing a whole town behind you. I think during this whole pandemic it means a lot more now that people see that Friday night lights aren’t guaranteed.

What part of your game have you been working on in the offseason?

I’ve been working on my footwork and technique a lot this offseason. On the offensive side of the ball I believe you block with your feet just as much and your hands so I have focused a lot on foot work. On the defensive side of the ball ive been working on different moves and techniques to win my 1 on 1s.

What should college coaches know about you?

I think college coaches should know that I am very coachable and will work as hard as anybody on the football field!

What are your thoughts on IHSA Spring Football?

I definitely wish they would’ve let us play in the fall like most of the states around us and I think they could’ve handled the whole situation a lot better than they did. But if they say we have football in the spring then that’s just another offseason for us to get bigger, stronger, and faster for the season.
