(Apologize For The Grammar Text In This Interview NEW PROGRAM)

Derrick Parker how was your 2019 season?

I personally think I had a good season. I learned and got better every time I stepped on a field. Me Playing Varsity Was A Whole Different World, The Game Was Way Faster, Bigger People, And Overall Just The Best Learning Experience I Could Go Through. It Shaped Me Into A Better Athlete And As A Sophomore On Varsity A Better Competitor.

How do you think new Rich Township team looks so far?

To Be Honest With You What Ever State Class We Are In Expect Us To Come Out Of Nowhere. We Are Really Getting Slept On But I Do Believe We Have Some Dogs. We Are Definitely Coming In With A Chip On Our Shoulder Because All 3 District 227 Schools Had A Down Year. Other Than Myself Expect Senior Wide Receiver Micah Catron To Pop Off, He Has Improved Drastically. We Both Have Been Working Everyday Since This Pandemic Put The World On Lockdown.

What does football mean to you?

Football To Me Is A Platform &. I Get To Use Football As A Platform Do Be A Leader Around My School & Community. I Can Get More Things Heard By Being A Leader Because By Default Everyone Needs A Leader. I Think Football Is Also A Platform Because It’s Fun Having Younger Kids Looking Up To You.

What should college coaches know about you?

All College Coaches Should Know That I Am A Natural Born Leader, I Am A Hard Worker In The Classroom, Hard Worker On The Field, The Biggest Competitor Out There, And Most Of All Coachable! My Mother Always Told Me I Was Born To Be A Leader Been Leading My Siblings As A Example Of What Hard Work Gets. I Am A 3.8 GPA Student Always Been A Student Before A Athlete. Being A Hard Worker On The Field Translates From Being A Leader And Setting The Tone. Being A Competitor I Never Want To Come In Second To Anyone I’m Gonna Give It My All. Being Coachable I Can Play And Learn Any Position On The Field And Soak Up Any Information Like A Sponge.

What position do you feel most comfortable at?

I Think I’ve Always Been Good At Everything But Most Comfortable Playing That’s Defensive End/Outside Linebacker Hybrid Position. Always Had Good Instincts On Where The Ball Will Be. I Do Think I’m Pretty Good At Tight End As Well But, I Love Getting To That Quarterback!

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting But About The Love Of The Game Of IHSA Football
