Will Schumacher Yorkville Class of 2021 FB/LB 5'11 215

Will Schumacher how was your 2019 season?

Yorkville has a great season last year. We finished 8-3 and lost in the second round of the playoffs. On a personal level, I feel as if I had a fantastic year as well. I lead the way to some HUGE numbers in rushing yards and I had a lot of hard nosed runs myself. Being a FB/HB in today’s day of football is a significant role in reading and adjusting to defenses to have a successful play whether it be pass blocking or run blocking.

What does football mean to you?

Football to me encapsulates every important value and lesson that life has to offer. It is the ultimate team game and teaches student-athletes how to work well in a team, teaches leadership, discipline, strong work ethics, and grit. I’ve always felt that if one is physically and mentally tough enough to play football, you can do anything in life.

What do you feel is your strongest trait on the football field?

I would say it’s a toss up between my in-game intelligence level associated with being able to react quickly and effectively to reach my blocking assignments or the physicality level at which I play.

What schools have you talked to so far?

I have been in contact with Ivy League coaches from Harvard, Brown, and Columbia. I’ve also been to last year’s summer camp at The College of the Holy Cross as well as the New England Elite Clinic at Tufts, where I have had the great opportunity to build a relationship with coaches from St Anselm College, the University of New Hampshire, and several D3 colleges out East, including Ithaca College and the University of Rochester. I also have visited Hillsdale College and will attend their camp in July. Here in Illinois, I’ve had great contact with coaches from Augustana , Knox, Carroll, and North Park. Recently, I’ve also met virtually with coaches from Carleton and Macalester in Minnesota.

What should college coaches know about you?

College coaches should know that I’m ultra competitive in everything I do. I’m coachable, football and book smart, well-disciplined, mentally and physically tough, and have a tenacious work ethic. Coaches should know I’m confident in my athletic and academic abilities. I’m hopeful coaches will take a look at what I can offer their program.

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting But About The Love Of The Game Of IHSA Football

RESPECT THE GAME
