Chatting With Crystal Lake South WR Brock Jewson Class Of 2021

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for lllinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Brock Jewson Class of 2021 Crystal Lake South WR 6'0 165

Brock Jewson how was your 2019 season?

It was fun! I took my Sophomore year off to try and focus on basketball but realized I missed football so I decided to come back my Junior year. I think it took me awhile to get back in the flow of the game; the first couple of weeks I didn’t do much statistically. But after getting some games under my belt I think I started to learn the offense more and click with my QB and other receivers to become a solid part of our offense.

How good can this Crystal Lake South passing attack be in 2020?

I think we have a lot of potential! We lost a lot of good receivers like Ian Gorken, Dylan Law, and Dan Sage and they’ll definitely be missed. But all those guys got hurt at some point last year, so we needed a lot of our younger guys to step up. So we have a lot of guys with some varsity experience already under their belt which is definitely a plus.

What should college coaches know about you?

I’m always looking to improve and learn. I will always listen with open ears to any and all coaching. I will always push myself to be the best player and person I can be and love to compete.

What does football mean to you?

Football is just a way to have fun and compete at a high level. It can teach us how to work with others and how to problem solve in high pressure situations. It’s also a way to be apart of the community. Every Friday night the whole town comes together to cheer you on and to be apart of something like that is pretty special.

What do you feel is your strongest trait on the field?

I think my leadership. Not necessarily always orally but just by making a big play or staying calm in a pressure situation. I lead with my actions more so than my words.
