Lucas Althaus welcome back..... How was your 2019 season?
It was a very successful year for the program as well as myself. This was my third year playing varsity on both sides of the ball at Tight End and Defensive End, and it was definitely a season to remember. As a program we had a historic season, starting out 5-0 for the first time in program history as well as making it to the playoffs. Not only did last season bring the team closer together, but it brought the community together as well. I was honored to receive multiple postseason awards including Academic All Conference, First Team All Conference at Tight End, All Conference Defensive End, Dispatch All Area, and a selection to the All Western Illinois Team Offense .Moving on to my senior year I really look to dominate even more than last year on both sides of the ball, as well as really catch the attention of college recruiters and coaches everywhere. I have been working even harder everyday this offseason and I am beyond excited for what the 2020 season holds for the Ridgewood Spartans as well as myself.
What schools have you been talking to?
Some of the schools that I have been in contact with Illinois, Purdue, Northwestern, Toledo, Northern Illinois, Wyoming, Miami(OH), and several others.
How does Ridgewood look for 2020?
This group that we have coming in for the 2020 season is extremely experienced. We have lots of leaders in our senior class that will definitely help our team during the season. I also see our group as extremely athletic, competitive, and full of depth, which will really help during the season and give us an advantage. Coming off a great season last year, our confidence is high as a team and we look to do even better this year and make more history for our program.
Who else on Ridgewood should I be on the lookout for?
There is so much talent and hardworking teammates on the 2020 team; Parker Hopping(QB), Brant Casteel(OL), Victor Snook(OL), Colton Stahl(RB), and Lucas Kessinger(WR) are definitely players on the 2020 Ridgewood roster that you should be looking for. Each and everyone of those players are dedicated, hardworking individuals that will definitely show out in the fall.
How have you been keeping busy with the Coronavirus going on?
During this pandemic, I have definitely been keeping busy with the school work our teachers have posted. However, after I get that done, I have been lifting weights with what I have at home, running routes, and running through drills to better myself as a player for the upcoming season. I also have been working a lot on the farm, as well as hunting.
