Kannon Acocella Class of 2021 Glenbrook South LB/ER 6'2 210

COACH BIG PETE: Kannon Acocella how was your 2019 season?

KANNON: My junior season went very well, I lead the team in sacks and I played against a lot of great talent on the offense line side, many of which had or have division one offers I am proud to say that I matched up very well against all of them. I was explosive off the ball and was able to get to the quarterback as well as disrupt plays in the backfield. Overall I had a really good junior season and with what I am doing with my training now I feel that I’m putting myself in a position to dominate my senior year.

What schools have you talked to so far?

I have communicated with Virginia Military Institute, Minnesota State Moorhead, Washburn University as well as an abundance of NAIA schools such as Trinity International University and Olivet Nazarene University however, I have also peaked interest from an inside linebacker coach in the FCS division for the Furman Paladins and a couple of defensive graduate assistants from the MAC division; these being Central Michigan and NIU.

What should college coaches know about you?

I have a 3.9 core GPA. I’m very versatile and can play linebacker as well as I’m hardworking, dedicated and I love the game of football.

What does football mean to you?

Football means family to me, I come from a family of football players. My two older brothers received scholarships and played football at the next level. Every time I step on the field I love it and I’m always ready to play and prove that I belong at the next level just like my older brothers. To me football is not just a game it’s a chance for me to better myself as well as compete.

What part of your game have you been working on in the offseason?

I have been training my hands almost every day just trying to being able to use them and shed blocks. I’ve been working on hand drills to both get my hands better and faster. I have also been working on my first step, really trying to be explosive as possible to be able to shoot out of my stance and beat the offensive lineman.

How does Glenbrook South look for 2020?

We were a very young junior heavy team last year and next year we will be very mature, experienced as well as dominant at the 8A varsity football level. I believe we will contend and win both in and out of conference.

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting But About The Love Of The Game Of IHSA Football
