Peter Deffenbaugh how was your 2019 season?
My 2019 season was special to me. I ended with honorable mention and 60 total tackles in the Central State 8 conference. I also earned special teams MVP. My coach didn’t know where to put me in the beginning of the season so I started at OLB and rotated in at S every so often. This season was special to me because it really opened up my recruiting process and it gave me the chance to prove who I actually was on the field.
How was the Boom showcase?
Describing the showcase overall in one word; electric. The amount of competition and dedication in the Yard today was unbelievable. It gave me an opportunity to get to know a lot more coaches and players that I didn’t know about before. Definitely one of the top showcases in the Mid-West.
What should college coaches know about you?
I’m in love with the game of football. Whenever my dad let me put the pads on for the first time in 3rd grade I automatically knew this was going to be my sport. I love to compete no matter the situation. Dedication and grind are the two words that define my work ethic.
What position do you feel most comfortable in?
Even though I played mostly OLB in my 2019 season, I prefer S or C because I’m capable of competing in those positions with my height, weight and speed. I’ve always loved being physical but I’m also known for my speed so I think S and C fit those traits perfectly.
How does University look for 2020?
We lost a lot of great players after this season but I think we should compete in our conference this year and go to the playoffs. There are a lot of dedicated seniors and underclass men that are deciding to step it up this year. We have always been looked down on because of our tough conference but in 2020, it’s going to be a different story.
