Jack Walsh Class of 2021 Fremd OL 6'3 280
Jack Walsh how was your 2019 season?
The 2019 season was a year personally and as a team was one to remember. Personally I think I took a huge step from an average linemen to an elite linemen with my really good footwork and my first punch coming of the ball. As a team we achieved many great things like going to the second round playoffs for the first time since 2016 and winning the MSL west conference outright the first time in a decade.
What do you like about playing on the offensive line?
I like knowing what the play and snap count is because that really gives an edge on defensive linemen. It’s also very helpful observing defensive linemen and linebackers to see which way they are leaning or where they shift too. You then can make simple adjustments based on those movements and there’s also no better feeling than seeing your quarterback or running back just break one right up the middle!
What schools have you been talking to so far?
Northwestern, NIU, Western Michigan, Mizzou, ball state, Illinois, Illinois state
And Purdue. I took gameday visits to western Michigan, mizzou, and Purdue and a junior day visit to NIU this past fall
What should college coaches know about you?
I have a tremendous work effort, I don’t let my attitude effect me even on bad plays, I have a good football IQ, and I’m very coachable
How does Fremd look for 2020?
We look very good. We have many returning senior starters in which this will be our 3rd year in this system offensively and defensively and we think that will really play to our advantage. We’ve also been gym rats because of last year against Warren they were just much bigger than us and we want to become one of the bigger teams around.
What part of your game are you working on this offseason?
Always improving my feet and need to work on keeping my hands on defenders and pounding my feet. I also need to get much stronger upper and lower body wise.
