Top 3 QB Recruit out of Illinois

Carson Camp welcome back... How was your 2019 season?

It was a great senior season! Was able to be apart of winning the Big 12 conference this year. And I was able to break a couple schools records as well. I was able to have more control of the offense this year, creating my own check calls. And more audibles as well. But I was also happy to create a family with the juniors and seniors this year. It was definitely a memorable season, I have no regrets about it.

Give me one player on Normal West who had a breakout season in 2019?

I was very impressed with Zack Marcotte, was able to fly around all over the place this year. He was unbelievable at linebacker this season. He also, was our punter. And was able to punt the ball extremely well when we needed it. Overall, great defensive of player that was fun to watch!

How good to you does it feel to you to already be committed?

Feels great! Definitely a big weight off my shoulders. The coaching staff at USD have something very special going on up there. And I cannot wait to be apart of it. Great group of coaches to be around also!

What advice would you give young QBs starting off with the process?

First off, just enjoy the process. Enjoy everything about Highschool football, there will be adversity at times. Don’t take anything for granted, constantly take notes in the film room, lead your guys, create a bond with your players, and lastly go out there and have fun under the Friday night lights. If you want to be a an elite QB. You have to handle things under pressure, everyone is great without pressure, but can you execute under pressure? But overall, enjoy it! It goes by fast! And lead the guys!

What should incoming freshmen know about Normal West football?

Normal West Football is a program that is continuing to stay on the rise. Nathan Fincham is turning some things around in that program. A big thing is if your Commitment=Expectation, you will have a lot of success in the program, and have a lot of success as a young man. There is a CAT Council group that is extremely helpful to the incoming freshman. This is the beginning of a foundation being built, and it starts with the younger guys (freshman and sophomores). I wish them the best of luck! And like I said before, enjoy it!
