Collin Schmutzler Lockport Class of 2020 ATH 6'0 185

Collin Schmutzler how was your 2019 season?

I’ve been playing since I was 5 and all I can say is this is one of the craziest and most exhilarating season I’ve been a part of. I mean from the overtime win against LWC, to the Sandburg comeback, and to the upset win against Andrew. We were voted to lose all of the those games. I’ve always liked being the underdog and when I have a chip on my shoulder I’ve always played better. This season and this team I had the privilege to be on, will change the way you see Lockport football because I can bet they will be a top 6 team in the state in 2 years. With a great head coach that is turning the program around and the talent that Lockport has coming up. I had the privilege along with the rest of the seniors to be the team to turn it around from 0-9 to 4-5. My season was a blast it had some downs but I had a good last run. Every game was just a blast where every I played because I love the game either if it was on offense or defense. I wish I could suit up one last time as a porter and play one last drive with my teammates.

What was your favorite memory last season?

Definitely the LWC win that was one of the best feelings I felt my whole football career. I had the chance to seal it in OT running behind my O-line to score our first try out of wildcat and break a 0-11 losing streak.

What should college coaches know about you?

I’m that type of kid with a chip on there shoulder, and I’m always gonna give you 100%. I’m always studying the game and looking at what I can improve on every day. I have a winning mentality and I’m very coachable.

What should future Porter players know about Lockport football?

The future of this program should know the tradition of this school and what it takes to earn that reputation back. You have to give your best effort at all times even if nobody’s watching. You will succeed in football and most importantly life if you follow this path.

How big was that Andrew win for this program?

It was huge for this program because it showed as a defense if we create turnovers it will change the coarse of the game and it will allow our offense to make more plays. It also shows that Lockport football is going in the right direction.
