Anthony Mangano DB Lake Zurich Class of 2020

Iowa Hawkeye Baseball Commit

Anthony Mangano how was your regular season?

My regular season was very good, so far through the regular season I have 4 interceptions, 2 of which came against Marist, and has been quiet in the secondary, not tested much. I had a 10 tackle game against libertyville and probably have the most tackles in the secondary through the regular season.

I’m very confident in our defense and have been starting since my sophomore year, especially since we went to state and our defense right not is reminding me of the defense we had back then. Fast, physical, and swarming to the ball.

What has been your favorite memory this season?

My favorite memory is probably when I had 2 interceptions against Marist. It was a very high intense game and I came thru in the clutch and helped my team compete. I know the game didn’t end how we liked it but we grew as as a unit together and have Been getting better every week.

How has the team responded to Coach Planz's 1st year as Head LZFB Coach?

It’s been great! We all love him and the values that he brings with him to the program! It’s been great to play for a guy like him and he knows what he’s doing with the tremendous amount of athletes that we have and it’s been a perfect fit with him as our head coach.

What challenges do you see with this Andrew squad?

They are very clean with their scheme and they are fast up front. They are also physical but that matches are defense perfectly. It will be a dog fight up front and with our defense being so physical. I’m confident in our ability to do our jobs. Also their quarterback is quick so we will have to keep an eye on him as well.

We’ve played a wing T offense already this year with Mundelein, but they have a different variation of it, so we aren’t completely new to this offense. We’ve seen it before and we are comfortable

Funniest guy in the lockerroom is?

Gotta be my guy Tony Zanichelli, always makes all of us laugh and is just a great guy to be around and have in our program.
