Joe DeHaan Andrew DB Class of 2020
Joe DeHaan welcome back... How was your regular season?
Our regular season went really well. We had some big wins against Lincoln-Way West, Bradley, and Bolingbrook. We also won the SWSC Red Division conference championship which is a huge accomplishment. We have a lot of confidence going into playoffs, and we are ready to go.
What do you see in this Lake Zurich squad for Saturday?
I see an explosive team that is well-coached. They have some good players, and they are a good program. I'm excited to go out there and compete against them.
How is your recruiting going so far?
Recruiting is going really well. I have been in contact with a lot of coaches at every level of football. I currently have offers for both football and baseball. I also have a few offers to play both sports in college which is something that has been my dream.
What advice would you give young recruits about the process?
Stay patient and work hard. Do not focus on the number of offers you have or the level of those offers. Instead, focus on working as hard as you can and being a team leader. Football is a team sport, and if you put the team before yourself, the individual achievements will come.
How big was that Bolingbrook win to you guys last week?
The Bolingbrook win was very important to us. First, it was great to beat an 8A powerhouse team going into playoffs. Next, the win gave us the home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs which is something that has not happened in a while here at Andrew. And lastly, the win gave us a tremendous amount of confidence going into the playoffs because it showed that we are a team that can beat anyone in the state.
