Drew Hughes Class of 2021 DE/ER/TE Nazareth Academy 6'3 250

Andrew Hughes is prob one of the better blocking tight ends in Illinois. Still a little raw on the pass rushing but that can be said for all young defensive linemen in their junior year. Top 5 Athlete in the state of Illinois for the Class of 2021. Great frame for both sides of the ball, and fit most schemes in college.

Drew Hughes how has your season been so far?

It’s going very well so far. Our team has been performing extremely good over the past 8 weeks. We knew coming into the season that we had a very special team filled with talent on all aspects on the field.

How do you feel you performed?

I feel like I have preformed pretty good on all phases of the ball whether it be Offense, Defense, or Special Teams. There’s always room for improvement, but I’m enjoying this ride on my Junior season!

What position do you feel most comfortable in?

I feel comfortable playing anywhere where my coaches think I can make the biggest impact for the team. I personally feel most comfortable playing all across the Defensive Line and at Tight End. Playing at these positions allows me to make tackles, catches, and key blocks.

What does football mean to you?

Football means family to me. The bonds and relationships that I have formed means everything to me. I consider all of my teammates my brothers. We grind all week during practice to prepare for battle on Fridays and Saturdays. I truly wish everyone had the opportunity to play this sport because it has taught me countless lessons that I can carry with me to adulthood.

What schools have you talked to so far?

Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue, Miami of Ohio and a couple of other schools.

What should college coaches know about you?

College coaches should know that I’m a hard worker, I will always give max effort, I’m very coach able, and that I love the game.

If you could schedule one game against Nazareth... Who would It be?

It would be against Lyons Township High School to show them why I made the decision to go to school and play football for Nazareth Academy.

What is one thing that a lot of outside people dont understand about Nazareth football?

The main thing outside people don’t understand about Nazareth football is that we truly are a family. We look out for each other and we have each other’s backs. When we put our pads on, we play for our brothers next to us.
