Steve Garner Class of 2020 RB Wheaton Academy 5'10 194

Steve Garner how has your summer been?

Summer has been good I transferred from Wheaton north to Wheaton Academy the past semester. So this summer camp I been gaining chemistry with a new team and becoming a leader on the team.

What impressed you about Wheaton Academy?

Wheaton Academy is a nice Christian based school so I get to get closer with God and also play the sport I love with a lot of coaches that care about you such as the Swider brothers, our head coach Brad Thornton and athletic director Coach Byrne they care about you on and off the field. That’s what really impressed me about Wheaton Academy

What goal do you have for yourself this season?

The goal I have for myself is stay humble don’t let anything distract me, keep working hard and go undefeated and work for a state ring.

What does football mean to you?

Football is my passion. I’ve been playing football since I was 3, my dad put me in contact football right away and ever since then I loved it helps me with everything if I wasn’t playing football I don’t know where I would’ve been.

What game are you most looking forward to this upcoming season?

Our first game for sure I have something to prove. Just transferring to a new school just show everyone what I’m capable of doing for the rest of the season. Also our rival school Saint Francis last year Wheaton Academy lost to them it won’t happen this year we will be mentally and physically ready to fight for the win.

What should college coaches know about you?

College coaches should know I’m a team player willing to do whatever for the team to be better. Whether that is play offensive or defensive or special teams and that I’m a leader on and off the field.

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting But About The Love Of The Game Of IHSA Football

RESPECT THE GAME
