Class Of 2021 St. Francis Michael Bumpus Is A Name You Need To Know

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for lllinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Michael Bumpus Class of 2021 St.Francis 6'3 230 LB/ATH/TE

Michael Bumpus how was your 2018 season?

After going 1 and 8 as a freshman going 8 and 3 was a successful season due to such a great coaching staff lead by coach McMillen. Also out of or 3 losses 2 of them played in the state championship so we now know what it takes to win state this year. Personally being the play caller/adjustments was a great learning experience. My own play like the defense improved each game and by the end of the season against the best teams was dominant.

What schools have you talked to so far?

Brown, Harvard and Iowa

What should college coaches know about you?

That I am serious in everything I do especially school and football. Also that football is in my blood my dad and great grandfather played at Boston College and two of my cousins played at brown, my grandfather played at UMass, and uncles played at UNH, Harvard, and Holy Cross. Also that I love contact and I am not afraid of anyone.

What does your college camp schedule look like?

Iowa June second, Northeastern June ninth, Brown June twenty sixth, and New England Elite twenty seventh and twenty eighth.

How good can this St. Francis squad be this upcoming season?

As good as any St. Francis team ever! We have one goal and it is to win the state championships to do that we need to beat great teams especially ICCP they have had great success and great players laity but I know we are up to the challenge and will have a real run at state.

What goal do you have for yourself this season?

Personally I want to lead the team in tackles, be more of a vocal leader having already played two years on varsity, and be able to help the offense this year because I am going to play some TE to help with blocking and catch some passes from Tommy Rittenhouse.

What do you feel is your strongest trait on the field?

As a LB if you asked one of my teammates it would be my intensity and physicality. I was taught that when you step on the field it is time to be focused and go to work. After this basketball season, weightlifting at St. Francis, and speed training at Acceleration I am looking forward to see the hard work pay off on the field!
