Normal West Defensive Linemen Skyler Hufeld Talks Upcoming Season & Recruiting Class Of 2020

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for lllinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams. Every Football Player Has A Story To Tell

Skyler Hufeld Normal West DT 6'2 280

Skyler Hufeld how was your 2018 season?

It was pretty good! We had a great run into the playoffs and even broke history at our school, sadly things were cut short after we lost against Richards. Yet I couldn’t be any prouder in myself and my brothers that are moving onto greater things in life.

How good can this Normal West squad be this season?

Our upcoming squad definitely has the potential to hit the ground running, but we need to make sure that we remain a strong unit through leadership and accountability of one another. Teams with potential always need to implement that, or there’s a big chance that they come out mediocre.

What do you like about playing on the defensive line?

What I really like about D-line is the freedom that comes with it. Obviously there’s certain assignments you have to follow, but it’s always been natural for me to get physical with the guy across the line and get to the football.

What schools have you talked to so far?

Well I took the time to visit SIU and it was awesome. I’ve also talked to ONU, Augustana, and hopefully some other schools in the near future.

What should college coaches know about you?

College coaches should know that I’m committed to the grind and that I’m never afraid to get nasty on the field no matter what challenge or team I’m up against.

Best way to break a double team is?

First make initial contact with the blocker with your arms locked out. Once you feel the pressure from the double team you get skinny, punch through the gap between the two blockers however necessary, then split the double team and square back up to regain control of your hole. Or to put it simply, get nasty and refuse to get pushed around.

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting But About The Love Of The Game Of IHSA Football

RESPECT THE GAME
