Davey Wurster Class of 2020 Manteno RB/ATH 5'11 175
Davey Wurster how was your 2018 season?
I had a great year. It was my first year playing running back and I loved it. Unfortunately, as a team it didn’t go as planned. It was the first year in a long time we didn’t make play offs. But this has fueled us and we have been working very hard this offseason as a team to make sure we have a better season next year!
Favorite memory of last season?
My favorite memory was playing Streator. We really came together as a team to get our first win. We got the run game going with 75 yards and 2 TDs along with the passing game having 125 yards and 1 TD. The energy throughout the game and the week of practice to follow was the best we had as a team.
What should college coaches know about you?
I am a good leader and will work extremely hard and do whatever it takes to help out the team. I’m constantly putting in extra reps and the gym and spending time studying to insure I’m the best student athlete I can be. I refuse to be out worked on the field and in the classroom.
What game are looking the most forward to this upcoming season?
I am very excited to play Peotone. It’s a great rivalry and always a good time playing them. The games are always very intense and create a great atmosphere to play in.
Who are some of the players on Manteno I should keep an eye out for?
Jeremy Gesky, Josh Gesky, Margarito Carrera, myself, and the line as a whole. Everyone is working very hard in the weight room and ready to ball out.
What does football mean to you?
Football means everything to me. I’ve been playing since I could walk and I love everything about the sport. I’ve learned a lot of valuable lessons and made lots of great relationships through football. I wouldn’t be who I am today without it. I’ve been working very hard to hopefully continue my career as a collegiate football player.
