JM Etienne Class of 2020 Stevenson RB 5'11 185

Jeam Marc Etienne what schools have you been talking to?

South Dakota St, UNI, Fordham, Iowa, Central Michigan, SIU, Wyoming, Western Illinois, Illinois

What schools have you visited so far?

Forgot to mention Kansas St for the previous question btw. I’ve visited Iowa twice, Iowa st, Kentucky, Northern Iowa, and Illinois. I’ve also been invited by MSU, Duke, NIU, Western Michigan, and Kansas State but never made it out to visit because of my schedule.

What is one of the visits that impressed you the most?

I’d say it was equally amazing at Kentucky and Iowa. Witnessing the fanfare and culture at their games was really cool. Northern Iowa impressed with their very personable coaching staff and hospitality.

What would you like college coaches to know about you?

I take the responsibility of being the best teammate and leader possible for my program. I’m excited about the academic part of college and setting up my life post-football. On the field, I can make anyone miss and can make a highlight out of any play. I don’t want to be an average football player in high school or college, I set my goals above and beyond because I want to be the best.

How was your 2018 season?

We had set high expectations as a team and started off 4-0 and even were ranked as a top 3 team in 8a at one point. We didn’t finish the season how we wanted and ended up losing to Marist in the first round. Personally, I played well but I don’t feel I played to my capabilities. I made All-Conference and All-Area but came up short for my goal to be All-State. Most importantly, it hurts knowing we didn’t advance further in the state playoffs. The 2018 season has provided the most motivation I’ve ever had going into this upcoming season, especially since I got injured on one of the first plays of the Marist game and physically couldn’t help my team get that win.

What motivates a Jean-Marc Etienne?

My senior season is coming up, so that means it’s likely the last time I’ll ever suit up with some of my greatest friends and teammates in Jordan Vincent, Jahleel Perrin, Shane Johnson, and the rest of the teammates and people involved in Stevenson Football. That alone makes this season that much more special. Another reason would be that everyone talks about how Stevenson football has fallen off. Everyone in our senior class understands that this season is bigger than us and that we need to restore the name and respect of our program. Lastly, recruiting has been a great motivator. There are constantly coaches coming in and out or are simply passing me up for another kid. That motivates me because I know that I can compete with anyone on any level.
