Kevin Cooke ICCP Linebacker Class of 2020 5'11 195
Kevin Cooke how was your 2018 season?
The season was fantastic. We had a great senior class that lead us to our third straight state title. We went undefeated and really played well as a team the whole year. Personally, I had another good year thanks to my teammates and I was able to lead the team in tackles for the second straight year.
What does it mean to you that you won your third straight title game?
It meant a lot. This third one was special because we were able to send last years seniors out with a ring. They started a tradition of excellence in our program and we will look to continue that tradition on next year.
What should college coaches know about you?
I am extremely hard working and very coachable. I give 100% at everything whether it’s on the field or in the weight room. I can take criticism and advice and help it to strengthen my game.
So what excites you the most about this upcoming ICCP season?
I’m excited to be a leader on our team this year. I am also really excited to see some of our younger players step up this year. We had a great senior class that graduated and I can’t wait to see our younger guys step up and help our team win.
What game are you most looking forward to this season?
I am really looking forward to our week 2 matchup against Joliet Catholic. They won the 5A State Championship and it should be a really good matchup from last year. I am also looking forward to playing Bishop Mac since we have a bit of a rivalry with them.
What most do you like about playing linebacker for ICCP?
I like playing linebacker because I love to hit. In our program we have unselfish linemen like Kevin Akins and Kobe Reed who are truly unselfish and keep OL off of me so I can run free and make tackles.
Any funny Coach Calcagno stories?
At our summer camp at Illinois Wesleyan after a 7 on 7, we were playing some music and Coach Cal jumped in the middle and started busting out some moves and it was hilarious.
