Alex Wollschlaeger Oswego East Class of 2020 DE 6'6 245

Alex Wollschlaeger how was your 2018 season?

My 2018 season was unfortunately a disappointment. About a week before the season truly started I broke my right collarbone in practice. It required surgery and as a result I was unable to play. Though I wasn’t able to play I did my best to help out the team when I could off the field.

What will it feel like to be back on the field this fall for you?

I’ve been looking forward to getting back on the field ever since I got hurt. It will be the culmination of 10 months of hard work and training.

What game are most excited about for this upcoming season?

I’m most excited for our crosstown game vs Oswego. Not only because of our schools rivalry but because they are one of the more difficult teams in the conference and I’m looking forward to the competition

What do you like about playing on the defensive line?

I like the physical/aggressive aspect of it that you have to have when getting off the ball. Meaning you have to be able to contain your gap to make sure nothing gets through as well as the responsibility that you have of tackling the ball carrier when the opportunity arises.

So how does Oswego East look for the upcoming season?

Oswego East looks very promising we have a lot of good players who can’t wait to get back on the field. We all have been working hard in the weight room getting stronger for this upcoming season.

What advice would you give to someone who is injured and doubting a comeback?

I’d say to question if you really want to get back at it and commit to the hard work that is needed, because if you want to comeback from any type of injury you will have to give 110% in order to achieve this. You have to be willing to put in the work to get to where you were before the injury and then improve upon that but in the long run I believe it is worth the grind.

Give me some Oswego East players to be on the lookout for this upcoming season?

Seniors: Nathaniel Cambell, Keion Battle, Sam Wilson Juniors: Coran Woods, Gianni Cammarata
