Talking With One Of The Big Name QBs In Illinois For The Class Of 2020 St. Charles East's BJ Cro

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams

BJ Crossen St. Charles East QB/DB Class of 2020 6'2 175

BJ Crossen how was your 2018 season?

I would say that it started strong and then faded going into the playoffs. Most of the losses we had were late in the game, and we couldn’t finish. I’ve been putting in extra time in weight room, on the turf to finish stronger in 2019.

What do you think you learned about yourself during your junior season?

I had to refocus to learn how to respond positively to things I cant control. As a QB and Leader I can control my attitude and effort in practice, in the weight room, and in the game.

Favorite memory from last season?

A lot of good Team and Personal memories from 2018. My best Personal memory was from our homecoming game. The other team game planned to commit to stop our power running. Coach adjusted the game plan after our first drive and we started airing it out. I had 5 TD passes to 4 different receivers. We had an excellent Team win on homecoming

What should college coaches know about you?

I really consider myself a dual threat athlete, not afraid to run the ball regularly inside as part of my offensive scheme to grind out tough yards, yet averaged 25.1 yards per completion. I also enjoy playing defense, love the physicality playing both strong safety and QB as a Freshman and sophomore.

What does football mean to you?

Football is more than just a game, it is really a way of life or lessons about it. Learning from coaches, learning about yourself, overcoming physical and mental obstacles, being accountable to the players beside you, getting past the bad days and moving forward to next play. Football is a lifestyle these lessons will help me be successful in the future.

What way has St. Charles East offense scheme made you a better QB?

Our offense requires me to focus on a pre snap read on every play and change it at the LOS if needed. This takes some getting used to, but the responsibility is on the QB on every play to make the correct read.

What players on St.Charles East team people need to lookout for this coming season?

We have many awesome players that are probably overlooked due to our ball control ground and pound offense. I see Clay Conn emerging as a big time playmaker, Alex Cox who is a 3 year OL starter, Kyle Hayes, Jalen Farmer on DL is a 3 year starter, Nick Schumann LB, and Nathan Hull WR/S, and a nice group of Sophomores coming up to compliment our seniors.

Who is the funniest coach on the St.Charles East staff?

That’s an easy one.. Coach Davis the running back/lifting coach.

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting But About The Love Of The Game Of Football In The IHSA

RESPECT THE GAME
