Meet Routt's Athlete Alex Cosgriff Class Of 2020

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams

Alex Cosgriff Class of 2020 ATH 5'8 170 Routt Catholic

Alex Cosgriff how was your 2018 season?

It went well. We made it back to the playoffs for the first time since 2011. It was a lot of fun playing along side my friends, and winning.

What does Routt Football mean to you?

It means a lot to me. As a kid I went to every game and looked up to all the players. Now I’m being watched by all the little kids. It’s really special.

What should college coaches know about you?

I’m always the hardest worker in the room, no matter what we are doing. I’m always willing to go the extra mile to get things done the right way. I’m also very dedicated to everything I do.

So how does Routt look in the WIVC this upcoming season?

I think we should do well. We are returning some experienced players. We will definitely have to go to battle every week though. The WIVC is always tough, but I think we will be ready.

Team you are most looking forward to playing this fall?

Triopia for sure. They are our biggest rival. They’ve beat us for the past couple years, but we are looking to change that this year.

What goal do you have for yourself this season?

First, to be a good leader. I was a captain as a junior this past year, which was a huge honor for me. This year I want to be more vocal and a better overall leader. Second, to follow up last season with an even better season. Overall, I had a good year, but I’m always striving to be better.

Who are some Routt players I should be on the lookout for this season?

Jonah Hutton is a dog at middle linebacker and on the line. He’s a hard worker and he understands his responsibilities really well. Jason Birdsell is a big athletic back and defensive end. He’s tough and reads holes really well. He also can make a big play out of what seemed to be nothing.

What motivates a Alex Cosgriff?

Trying to be the best. I know every day is an opportunity to get better, so I take that opportunity. Also, bringing Routt back to the small school football dominance it once had. Thinking about what we could do this fall motivates me a lot. I want to end my high school career on a high note.

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting But About The Love Of The Game Of Football In The IHSA
