Class Of 2020 Sandburg's Star Defender Cameron Woolery Talks Boom Showcase & Upcoming Season

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams

Cameron Woolery Sandburg ER/LB 6'1 220 Sandburg

Cameron Woolery how was the Boom Showcase for you?

The Boom Showcase was great for me this year. It’s a great event that I’ve been able to see myself process through every year since my freshman year. And I was happy to be selected to compete with the best chosen lineman at the event.

How was your 2018 season?

I had a great 2018 season with a great team. I had the honor of being named First Team All-Conference by the Southwest Suburban Conference. And I really appreciate the faith and trust given to me by my coaches, they believed in and worked with me throughout the season and helped me to be a team leader.

What would you like college coaches to know about you?

I would like college coaches to know that I am very hard working, coachable, determined to always get better, and a team player because I will always push guys on my team to get better and do whatever it takes to help the team win.

What do you like about playing on the line?

The thing I like about playing on the line is the challenge it creates which is finding a way to get around the O-lineman and getting to the ball carrier. It allows me to use my speed and different defensive moves, whether it’s a speed rush to the QB or a swim move to get to the RB.

It’s almost like a mind game between you and the man lined up across from you. And it’s fun to figure out different ways to get around them.

Toughest OL that you faced last season?

I’m gonna have to give that one to HF’s O-line. They’re very solid up front with a lot of great guys and were able to affect my gameplay. But I do plan on training with some of their guys in the offseason and finding a way to have a better game against them next season. A close 2nd would be Bolingbrook’s O-line.

What motivates a Cameron Woolery?

I’m motivated by a lot of things. Whether it’s not wanting to let down my coaches and teammates or trying to make my parents proud. But the most important thing that motivates and pushes me everyday is my will to be the best. I set my goal to be the best at whatever I put my mind to, whether it’s in the classroom, the weight room, or on the football field. And I get that competitive mentality from my father who always tells me to ‘be the best’.

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting But About The Love Of The Game Of Football In The IHSA
