So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams

Pat Coogan Class of 2021 Marist 6'4 240 OL

Pat Coogan how was your sophomore season?

My sophomore season was great. I learned so much up on the varsity level from all the seniors. Our team worked so hard throughout the whole season but came up just short of our ultimate goal, a state championship.

What did it mean to you being moved up to varsity?

It meant a lot to me, especially growing up watching Marist varsity football as a kid. It was a huge opportunity for me. I wanted to show everyone that I can compete with the older guys. Looking forward to bigger and better things this upcoming year.

What was your favorite memory this season?

Coming back and beating Naperville Central in the second round of the playoffs.

What advice would you give to young players being moved up to varsity?

I would tell them to always work their tails off even when no ones watching because it will always pay off in the end.

What would you like college coaches to know about you?

I would like them to know that I try to win at everything I do. Whether in the weight room, during a practice, or winning my individual battle on the line during the game, I always compete. I strive to be a leader and improve myself everyday, while also encouraging my teammates.

What part of your game are you working on in the offseason?

I am trying to really hit the weights hard during the off-season but also work on my footwork and pass protection skills.

What does playing on the offensive line mean to you?

Playing on the O-line really means a lot to me because I think the offensive line is the heart and soul of a team and can take a team from good to great.
