So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams

John Bickel Class of 2020 ATH Andrew 5'10 170

John Bickel how was your 2018 season?

Our season went really well we finished 6-4 unfortunately losing in the first round of the playoffs to a good Nazareth team but that will make everyone work harder during the off-season to make it much farther next year

Favorite memory last season?

It has to be beating Lockport on homecoming the fans were crazy we were hype and us as a team became family with an incredible bond

How has track helped your football skills?

It helps me tremendously. It gives me an edge when I am running from defenders on a long run trying to score also it helps when I am chasing down the ball carrier

Toughest defense you went up against last season?

I would say Nazareth’s defense

What goal do you have for yourself this upcoming season?

My goal is to get better each and every day by working hard at practice, in the weightroom, and in the classroom as well as help pushing my teammates to be the best possible athlete they can be so we can have a chance to compete for state next year

So how does Andrew look for the upcoming season?

I think we are looking really good we will have a lot of juniors who were real playmakers and real threats on the field this year as well as the talented group of sophomores coming up this season

Any funny Coach Lew stories?

There are a couple one of them that is funny to me is when my teammate Ameer Aqel broke his hand and had to wear a cast with wrap on it and it looked like a burrito so I go up to Coach Lew and say “doesn’t that(Ameers cast) look like a burrito coach” and he replies back “mmmm burrito” and I thought it was pretty funny

What goal do you have for yourself this upcoming season?

On offense I would like to rush for at least 1000 yards have at least 500 receiving yards and score at least 15 touchdowns overall. On defense I would like at least 5 interceptions 10 pass break ups and at least 1 pick six
