Marian Central Catholic's Junior Defensive End Jayden Thiergood Talks Hurricane Football & R

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams

Jayden Thiergood Class of 2020 Marian Central Catholic DE/ER 6'3 246

Jayden Thiergood how was your junior season?

My junior season was great. I had a lot of film to get some decent exposure. Wish we could’ve made it to playoffs though.

Favorite memory from last season?

Having a offensive and defensive showcase against Marian Catholic for their Homecoming game.

What does football mean to you?

It’s something that I think about most of the day. Just trying to get better at all aspects of the game. Hitting the weight room is my #1 thing right now. It’s something that has taught me some great life lessons on work and how to become a better man on and off the field. Mostly coming from coaches and mainly my former coach, Coach Maloney.

What would you like college coaches to know about you?

I’m willing to put in the work for me and for the people around me. The 2 things that I like to hold against myself is being accountable for my mistakes and putting in the effort to make myself a better player to become great at the next level. And overall achieving to be the best at what I do.

So how does this Marian Central team look for 2019 with a lot players graduated?

Honestly, as a team, we may be low on numbers, but my main goal next year is to motivate this team along the way over the off-season and summer camp to be the best players they can be and succeed at whatever they do on the field. I’m gonna help bring along the young guys to help us on this journey for next year.

What position do you feel most comfortable in?

I would have to say Defensive End.

This will be your last season of high school football coming up... What does that mean to you?

It’s the last time I’ll get to play with all of my best teammates/friends that I’ve known for years. It’s gonna be a year that I’ll never forget and I’ll be ready to finish it the best way I can.

Who are some young Hurricane players I should be on the lookout for this upcoming season?

I’m not exactly sure which underclassmen will be on the varsity roster, but I will for sure tell you to lookout for Brian Allen. He’ll be a sophomore next year and he was one of our Defensive Ends last year.
