Talking With Class Of 2020 Phillips QB Terryon Thrower About Wildcat Football

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams

Terryon Thrower how was your 2018 season?

My 2018 season was a great learning experience. Lots of snaps with a very advanced offense also a lot of great athletes. I did not begin the season starting, but with an unfortunate injury, I was the next man up. We put up great numbers and I was able to lead the team into 6 straight wins. We did not win a title, but that didn’t bring us down, it gave the team and I a higher motor for the following season.

How do you feel you improved after the season?

After the season I feel a lot more confident in my decisions on the field. In the 2018 season outside of my coaches of course, I was golden to have those veteran players (McCray, Morris, R.Thompson, J.Thompson, Smith, Billingsley) around to help me keep my head in the game, keeping me on my P’s and Q’s, focus. Now I feel superior with everything that I do on the field.

What does Phillips Football mean to you?

Phillips Football, brotherhood, responsibility, accountability, integrity, turning boys to men! Our coaches are nothing but either, brothers or fathers to us. They take care of us off the field more than they can on it. They hold high expectations of nothing less than greatness, no matter what we’re doing. I am comfortable knowing that I can reach out to my coaches in need. It certainly means a lot having a home outside of home, family outside of family. Phillips football is an excellent program!

What should college coaches know about you?

College coaches should know that I am coachable, no doubt. I am definitely favorable. I carry that “dog” attitude that most Quarterbacks don’t. I go that extra yard to the move ball. Rather we’re 40 points up or 40 points down, I will put my body on the line for a 2pt conversion. Everyday I try to make myself better than the day before. When our season ended, I wasted no time. I knew what I had to work on, hit up trainers and coaches and got to it! I go hard no matter what!

Favorite route to throw to?

Can’t choose between the Corner route or a Comeback.

Give me a Phillips WR that I dont know, but should keep an eye out for?

Antonio Brown, Class of ‘21
