Matthew Chavers how was your season?
My season wasn’t the greatest but it was a learning experience. I was moved around a lot playing different positions and that was new to me and I didn’t play much defense through the year or get as many touches as I thought I should have.
What position did you like the most?
I’d say Slot WR the most because I could block and run for passes
What was one of your favorite memories last season?
The summer camps and 7o7s the team bonding was really fun.
How is wrestling going so far?
Wrestling is going really good just hoping to stay healthy.
What do you say to people still on the fence about joining wrestling?
It really makes you a better athlete and person mentally .. it’s probably one of the toughest most disciplined sports there are and you can take a lot from and it’s helps make you a better well-rounded athlete overall
How does Freeport look next season?
With the sophomore class joining my junior class we will have the talent to be successful and we should definitely get those 5+ wins as long as we train during the off-season and become mentally stronger as a whole because I think that’s what hurt us last season and that’s why we fell short
What would you like college coaches to know about you?
I’m coachable, competitive, a hard worker , extremely athletic, and I hate to lose. Blue-collar kid everything i’ve received I’ve had to work for nothing was given.
