Darryl Johnson how was your season?
It didn't go the way it was suppose to. My team went 1-8 and most of our players got hurt, including myself. But we never gave up as we stayed as a team going on the field to do something that no other people would do. I personally say that this season I had improved alot from last year junior year. I went out with a bang.
What does football mean to you?
Football means brotherhood and friendship to me. As we hang out together and practice over the summer and during the season. We had built friendships and form bonds no other people could do; challenging each other and pushing each other to our limits as we lay it all out on the field.
What will you miss most about Lane Tech football?
I will miss the team I bonded with. Especially my 3 Defensive Linemen Jaylen Pate Khalem Caldwell And Augie Dunn. In my opinion we were the best Defensive Line that has lived at Lane in the past years. I will also miss the coaches that had supported me on my journey to keep me out of trouble and have a sound mind to play football to my full potential.
What schools have you talked to?
Not many I'm still in the process of getting recruited. I'm still waiting on schools to offer me ass I spread the word about me and my season. Just hoping for a D1 school to give me a chance
What should college coaches know about you?
That I am coachable and have alot of potential to go all the way with the right guidance and coaching. Becoming their one Defensive Linemen that they can count on.
What do you like about playing in the trenches?
The competitiveness and the acknowledgement of the fact that there are people who are stronger than you and have great technique and it gives me a rush to do better than them and become stronger. Especially going against Phillips. I also like Tackling. Nothing feels good like a good ol' tackle to hype the team and go all out.
Who are some players I should look out for in 2019 from Lane Tech?
Look out for Augie Dunn Jayvion Desyan Kim Akrim Keilu Sanchez.... A lot of players with potential on that team for next year
