Chatting With Rolling Meadows Senior Jace O'Hara About The Mustangs Great Season

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams

Jace O'Hara Class of 2019 Rolling Meadows ATH 5'11 189

Jace O'Hara how was your season?

Sorry I had a basketball game ! I thought we had a great season, it obviously didn’t end as we’d hoped and we truly believed we had a shot at the state title. We had a great group of guys that were so loyal and committed to each other and our work ethic and overall this was the best season of sport I’ve ever had

Favorite memory this season?

Haha great question. Although there are plenty such as our team camps and the entire summer in general, I think the feeling of getting our revenge on our rival , Hersey, and clinching the msl east was the best memory. I’ve never been apart of a team that was so ready and so excited to go get what we’ve been dreaming of and I think that was overall our best team win as well. Players stepped up and our community rallied and we came out with the win that represented who we were and how good we could play. After that game we weren’t afraid of anybody.

What will you miss most about Rolling Meadows football?

Most would say the cliche “Friday night lights” but the moments spent creating a brotherhood and bond during school, during practice , during team dinners, anywhere off the game field was so special to me and shaped me into the man I am today. The endless life lessons and gifts this game and this community has brought me is priceless. I can’t thank the people around me enough. I wouldn’t be here without any single one of them. I was willing to do anything for this program

Who was the funniest guy on the team?

Tough question cause all my guys were so lighthearted and genuinely funny but my middle linebacker Max Salhani has to take the cake. He is so brutally honest and the laughs we share together are always genuine and there’s not a dull moment when you’re around him. His sheer energy and presence(even on the field, during the game) was something to laugh at because his personality is really larger than life . Love the kid and I couldn’t ask for a better teammate and best friend.

What do you think your best game was this season?

All around, I’d have to say our first playoff game against Alton. A very good team in a tough conference of theirs. We faced adversity early and you could feel the tension on the sideline and especially from the crowd. Our starting RB was out with an injury so I had to step up and play both ways basically the whole game . I was able to rack up 150 yards and then 2 TDs , a pick ,a sack, a tackle for loss ,multiple tackles, and eventually the win. I think my ability to lead and be a beacon for our team was best shown in that game and although it was a scare, it was another reminder for our team that we can beat any opponent no matter what the stakes. We were hit hard and they were a very aggressive defensive team but our ability to bounce back and combat their intensity with our own was an unbelievable feat for both me and my team. It wasn’t the most enjoyable win but it was the most important at the time

Who is the fastest O'Hara?

If we were to race right now, I’d win by a landslide and you can bet on that. 2 oldest are out of shape and although Asher is very quick, elusive , agile ,and has better field vision , he can come race me in a 40 yard dash anyday and I’ll be happy to dust him!!

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting But About The Love Of The Game Of Football In The IHSA
