Talking With Lincoln Way West's Big Man Nate Mahoney Class Of 2019

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams

Nate Mahoney Class of 2019 OL 6'3 250 LWW

Nate Mahoney how was your senior season?

It’s was definitely one to remember, didn’t end the way we wanted to but I loved every second of it.

Favorite memory of this season?

Well one of our receivers, Dobs at the beginning of season had a near death injury which ended his football career. Week 1 of the playoffs, I got to see him dress and warm up with our team. That was by far my favorite memory.

What will you miss most about Lincoln Way West football?

Definitely the family atmosphere. Everyone there pushes each other to be better, not just the coaches. I wouldn’t be where I am today without those guys.

What would you tell a young football player about playing on the line?

You don’t always get the recognition and fame but to love every second of it because playing on the line is something special.

Who are some young Lincoln Way West players I should be on the lookout for?

Matt Leblusek, Griffon Ketlar, Brett Carberry and Matt Knevin

What schools have you been talking to?

Been talking a lot with Army West Point.

What would you like college coaches to know about you?

I may not be the biggest guy, but I will fight every second of every single play to make sure my guys are getting in the end zone.

Funniest memory of your playing time at LWW?

I would have to say one day during camp last summer, just before film we put a sticky note under our offensive line coaches mouse and he couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it so he threw the mouse across the room.
