Zack Marcotte Class of 2020 Normal West LB 6'1 189
Zack Marcotte how was your season?
I would have to say our season this year was the best by far! We went the furthest in the playoffs than any other Normal West team prior to us has gone and tied with the best record in school history going 10-2
What was your favorite memory this season? My favorite memory from the season was during the 2nd round of playoffs it was a close game the whole time and there was about a minute thirty left and Palos Heights was having there last drive of the night, trying to score to win and I was sent on a blitz that we put in during halftime and I strip sacked the quarterback, recovered the ball in the end zone for a touchdown. this was also the game we broke school history by moving on to the quarter finals.
What would you like college coaches to know about you?
I would like college coaches to know about me is that I know how to read guard. I am a sideline to sideline line backer. I am a hard worker with great work ethics and most importantly to me is that I’m Coachable and love the game of football
What does football mean to you? Football means so much to me because it has taught me about how to never give up, it also taught me about brotherhood and team work because you have to have peoples back and do your job as well to be successful. It has taught me so many lessons and that’s why I love it
What do you like about playing linebacker? The things I like most about Linebacker is my leadership role because I have to make sure everyone is on the same page and hold everyone accountable I also love how you are involved in every play, there is no play that you can take off. The best thing about linebacker is getting those game-changing plays like sticking the running back for a loss of one or a sack on the QB or even dropping back into coverage and getting a interception.
How good can this Normal West team for next season? It’s going to be hard to top such a great season that we did this year, we are loosing most of our experienced linemen but other than that I’m looking forward to the season because I think we are gonna be real good and a really tough team to stop I think next year we will for sure be a play off team and even a quarter finals team like this year
Toughest offense you have gone up against? The toughest offense that I have gone up against was our rivals Normal community they had some weapons at the skill positions and there offensive line was big, physical and knew how to block our defensive schemes they also were a hard team to key guard with because of all the false pulls and counters and triple options they ran I would say they were the toughest offense I have gone up against.
