Derek Byrd how was your junior season?
I feel like I had an okay junior season but it was not the way I was expecting. I had a good first couple of games but I didn’t get as much playing time as I hoped but this off season I’m going to be working as hard as I can so when next season comes I’ll be back out there and ready.
How good can Bradley Bourbonnais be in 2019?
I think this could be one of our best years. We had a decent season this year and this was a young team. We have 8 starters on each side of the ball returning and I think we have a real good chance at the playoffs and a good run in it too.
What do you like about playing on the offensive line?
I like the competitiveness because the talent in the SWSC is incredible and just being able to compete with some of the top dogs is amazing.
Favorite memory of last season?
Definitely the first game at grant. It was an amazing experience it was the first game and first it second week back in Illinois and it was just so amazing to be back with my team and go out and get that first win of the season.
What would you like college coaches to know about you?
I don’t really know I’ve never thought about talking to college coaches
What do you plan on training this offseason to make yourself better for the upcoming season in 2019?
Well I’ve been working out 5 days a week with the team I’ve also been doing a little bit at home with some stretching and a little bit of footwork getting ready for the season.
Who are some BBCHS players I should be on the look out for next season?
Dalton Boswell, Cadden Scrogins, Hollist Daniels, Iverson Anderson and Cj Dunn. These are all huge playmakers on out defense and all play a huge role. And on offense Jason Hartsfield I feel like he is going to have an amazing senior year, Keaton Schmidt another great athlete, he started as the quarterback and when Logan went in as quarterback Keaton stepped up and was one of our hot targets at the wide receiver. Tremaine Stone a junior running back this year and I feel like he is going to step up big time coming in for Isiah and also Robert Longo, he was on the line as a sophomore and was out this year with an injury but I think he will be back this year with a great year.
Big Question: Who is the better Byrd in football?
Me 100%. He’s not as big as me. He’s not as athletic as me. He’s just not better than me. And nothing is going to change my mind.
Who is the funniest coach on BBCHS?
Coach Spacht he comes up with something new every day to surprise all of us and it’s nothing anyone would expect
