Deep Dish Football Playoff Game Of The Week Player Spotlight: Nazareth's Robert Gurley Class Of

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams

Robert Gurley Class of 2020 Nazareth RB/LB 5'10 190

Robert Gurley how has your season been?

My season has been great for me and my Nazareth family. I’ve been blessed to play and learn from such great talent and elite coaching.

What has been one of your favorite memories so far?

Without a doubt, how my teammates and I rallied behind Diamond Evans after the passing of his grandfather. It showed how our brotherhood transcended past the football field. Seeing him play the day after the news taught me how to push through adversity.

What do you see in this Batavia team?

I think Batavia is a very good team. They are a well balanced and bring a lot of energy to the field. My teammates and I look forward to suiting up this Saturday, it should be a good one.

How wild was that Simeon game?

It was very intense! They broke out on us quick, but we knew there was a lot more football to play. With great coaching from Coach Racki we were able to adjust and play “our” game.

What would you like college coaches to know about?

I would like them to know about my hard work, dedication and team first approach. I live and breathe football, I am a student of the game. I train at several places outside of our football program to keep me competitive with any level of player put in front of me. I am also a good student, football comes second to only education.

What position do you feel most comfortable in?

I play both sides of the ball at linebacker and running back, but I am more comfortable at linebacker because I like to hit.

What motivates a Robert Gurley?

Faith. Family. Football. God has a plan for me. There was a reason I was led to Nazareth instead of attending my district school. I’ve been given an opportunity to do and be something great here. My family supports everything that I do, they are my biggest fans. There have been many sacrifices to get me where I am today, I don’t take that for granted. I will make them proud! My next goal is to play football at the collegiate level. If I could receive a full ride scholarship to pay for my education while playing the sport I love, then I am truly blessed.
