Talking With Andrew's ATH Joe DeHaan Class Of 2020 About The Season So Far
So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams.
Joe DeHaan Class of 2020 Andrew 6'2 175 DB/LB
Our season has been going well. We are currently 5-1, and hoping to clinch a playoff berth this week against Thornwood. We focusing on finishing the regular season strong with three big games coming up
How good can this Andrew team be?
I believe our team can compete and beat anyone in the state. We have gritty and tough players who will not back down to anyone, and we have coaches who prepare us and put us in the best position to succeed.
What does football mean to you?
Football means everything to me. It has taught me so many valuable lessons throughout the years. What I love about football is that every week it provides a new physical and mental challenge, and it builds a brotherhood that is unmatched. Our Andrew team is truly a family.
What advice has your brother given to you ?
My brother Mike has given me some of the best advice that I have ever been given. Last year when I was a sophomore on varsity, Mike told and showed me every day the importance of hustle, hard work, and getting better every opportunity I am given. I am forever grateful to have played a year of football with him.
What do you like about playing on defense?
I like playing defense because I am given the opportunity to make plays on the ball and especially getting to hit people. There is no greater feeling than getting a sack or making a big tackle.
Favorite memory so far this season for you?
My favorite memory of the season is beating Lockport at home on homecoming, and making a big play to end the game.
What would you like college coaches to know about you?
I would want college coaches to know that my greatest qualities are not what shows in a profile or on the stat sheet; my instincts, knowledge of the game, passion for the game, and work ethic are what set me above the rest. I believe those are attributes that cannot be taught. I am only going to get bigger and stronger over the next two years.
