Meet Buffalo Grove's Linebacker Andy Polk Class Of 2019

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams

Andy Polk Buffalo Grove Class Of 2019 LB 5'11 175

COACH BIG PETE'S TAKE

Andrew Polk is a linebacker that does all the right things you want to see in a linebacker. Reads his keys and reacts, textbook tackler that makes great pursuits against the ball carrier. Whats not to like about a linebacker that wrestles in the offseason.

Andy Polk what schools have you been talking to?

I've been talking to Cornell College, Luther College, and UNLV for their wrestling programs.

So how does Buffalo Grove football look this season?

BG looks pretty solid this year. We've been putting in a lot of work on the field and in the weight room.

What does playing linebacker mean to you?

Playing linebacker means more to me than on the field. Our LB core is full of guys I have personally known for a long time, I've known Sean Jacobs since elementary school and our team has a great bond. We're all friends on and off the field. Playing linebacker to me means being the enforcer.

Favorite memory from last season?

My favorite memory of last season was when we clinched the playoff spot, we had a chip on our shoulder to end the drought and fulfilling that goal was bittersweet. This year I'd say we have the same expectation, but as a team, we have to take the season one game at a time.

What should college coaches know about you?

I'm as real as it gets. I'm a hard worker, I study the game, and I never feel comfortable where I'm at. I'm always hungry for more, and so is my team.

Toughest player that you have gone up against?

Honestly I don't know names, but Conant last year had a running back who I believe is in my grade. One tough player.

This is your senior season- Last season of high school football, What does that mean to you?

This means to me that all of these years of experience and knowledge of the game are coming to fruition. I'd love to go out with a bang, but I have to trust my training and allow it to speak for me. It will be sad, but alongside my teammates and outstanding coaching staff, it will be a year to remember. I want to be able to walk off the field with no regrets.

Remember Deep Dish Football Is Just Not About Recruiting But About The Love Of The Game Of Football In The IHSA

RESPECT THE GAME
