So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams
Nic Seelhoefer Mater Dei Class of 2019 LB 6'2 230
COACH BIG PETE'S TAKE
Nic is a linebacker that I just put on my watchlist for the Class of 2019. Great job of reading his keys, ability to take great pursuits. Great frame for a linebacker that fights of blockers to make a play.
Nic Seelhoefer what schools have you been talking to?
I have been talking to SIU Carbondale, and Lindenwood University St. Charles frequently. I have talked with coaches from Mckendree, Minnesota state, Lindenwood Belleville, Missouri Baptist and a few others have emailed me as well.
What does Mater Dei football mean to you?
Mater Dei football is one family consisting of the coaches, players, fans, and everyone else that supports us! Mater Dei has and will always have a great tradition and program! Words cannot describe how grateful I am to be able to play for Mater Dei and Coach Stiebel
What would you like college coaches to know about you?
I would like college coaches to know that I work hard on and off the field and play with a high motor and great physicality and technique. I also want a coach to know that I have a high work ethic as well
Favorite memory from last season?
My favorite memory from last season would probably be winning the Milk Bowl against Central.
What do you like about playing linebacker?
I like how I can stop the run game as well as drop into coverage. I also like being the quarterback of the defense and being a vocal leader as well. I like the contact of playing that position and just being able to read and react.
So how does Mater Dei look this season?
I think we are looking pretty good! We have a lot of returning starters on offense and I’m pretty sure we have our whole defense back from last year. A lot of us have gained speed and strength during offseason training.
What do you tell incoming freshmen of Mater Dei to expect from the program?
I tell the freshmen to expect to work hard and challenge and drive not only themselves but other to be successful. I also tell them to just enjoy every bit of being apart of the program because these are some of the best years of your life playing high school football. If they do both of those then they will see the success and tradition that lives on in the program.
