COACH BIG PETE'S TAKE
Miceli is that player, never gives up and takes on players much bigger than him with no fear. He is the kid that football coaches love because of his heart and plays to the sound of the whistle.
Matthew Miceli what schools have you been talking to?
I have been talking to St. Norbert, Lake Forest, Millikin, Olivet Nazarene, Earlham, North Central and Southwest Minnesota State University.
What does Maine East football mean to you?
Maine East football to me is more than just a team to me. We are as close as a family and no one can ever take that away. I’ve built friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. Maine East football has not only helped me grow as a player but also has helped me to grow as a person. It has taught me life lessons such as how to overcome tremendous adversity, commitment, and teamwork.
New coach for your program, Whats the level of energy for the program now?
The level of energy of the program just keeps going up as we get closer and closer to the season. He’s been there ever morning with us at 6 AM for our workouts. We just can’t wait to put on the pads and get after it!
What do you want college coaches to know about you?
I want college coaches to know that I might not be the biggest on the field, but I definitely have the biggest drive and a crazy work ethic. I am a selfless player and will do whatever and/or play wherever I need to to help my team.
What was your favorite memory from last season?
My favorite memory from last season was in our first game right before halftime the score was 18-19 we were only up one and they were starting to gain momentum. I had sack and fumble recovery and it completely changed the momentum of the game and we ended up winning that game 48-18.
This your Senior Season, What does that mean to you?
This season means so much to me, I’ve been a Blue Demon for 8 years starting all the way back in 4th grade when I was a Junior Blue Demon. Ever sense starting high school I’ve put so much time and effort into becoming the best possible player I can become and this is my last chance to show everyone what I can do. I won’t disappoint.
What do you tell future Maine East Players about playing for Blue Demon football?
For all future Maine East players you MUST buy in. Commitment is one thing we have lacked from some players in the past and when it comes to game time it shows. Hit the weight room and listen to what the coaches tell you. They know what’s best for all of us as individual players and as a team.
