Chatting With Normal West QB Carson Camp Class Of 2020
So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams.
Carson Camp Normal West QB Class of 2020 6'4 187
Carson Camp belongs in the conversation for one of the better QBs in the Illinois Class of 2020. Great frame, and ability to make plays on his feet. Great patience in the pocket even for a sophomore QB playing on the varsity level along with great decision making.
Carson Camp how was the Lemming Showcase?
It was a great experience working out with other players at my position and trying to get a feel for where I stood as a player. A lot of talented players were in attendance in Westmont this past weekend.
What schools have you been talking to?
None officially as of yet. I'm getting a lot of camp invites right now and I will start considering schools that I think I can fit into and play for in the upcoming weeks, and hopefully things will start falling into place going forward.
What does Normal West football mean to you?
Everything. I'm very proud to have the opportunity to play with the guys on the team and continue to learn and get better playing under new Head Coach Nathan Fincham. I'm excited to get going with the upcoming season and put it all on the field.
Favorite moment from last season?
West winning its first playoff game last season against Dwight D. Eisenhower (Blue Island) in a sleet storm. It was freezing cold and no one cared and I was happy to be a part of it.
Funniest guy on the Normal West football team?
Holden Smith on the O-line. Always has a joke or playing pranks on somebody. He has a way of lightening the moods when you need it.
What would you like college coaches to know about you?
I'm incredibly driven, I love to compete and hate to lose! I'm always looking to improve and learn, not just on the field but off the field as well.
Give me a player on Normal West that college should look at but haven't?
Cody Hardt (Left Guard). He has quick hands and tremendous footwork. He does a great job helping anchor that side of the line. He is also a leader and a great locker room presence.
