So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams.

COACH BIG PETE'S TAKE

Nick Zonta is that undersized player that will outwork other players on the field. Takes on larger players with no fear and plays off his leverage. He is that player you want on the team as a coach, because he motivates others.

Nick Zonta what schools have you been talking to?

Over the past year or so more schools have been taking the time to reach out and express interest, but the 2 major ones that continue to show consistent interest in me are Ferris State and Southwest Minnesota State. I've had a chance to visit each campus and meet the coaching staff's. I really enjoyed both schools and hope I have a chance to go back before this season is over.

What skills have you been working on in the offseason for the upcoming season?

Since the 2017 season ended, I've really dedicated myself to getting stronger and improving flexibility to allow myself to move better and to prevent injury. So far I've seen a lot of improvement in areas that I felt I needed to target, so I'm pretty happy with those results and hope to continue to see them up until this season gets underway. Also I've been learning new techniques as far as hand fighting and block shedding from a workout partner of mine who played at the Division 1 level that I hope will pay off for me come game day this year.

What would you like College Coaches to know about you?

The main thing I would want any college that may decide to take a chance on me to know is that they can count on me to give my full effort in every task they ask me to complete, and that I will bring a special kind of energy and compassion to their program based on my love for the sport of football.

What motivates a Nick Zonta?

My main motivation in both sports and in life are the people that I love. Everything I do both on and off the field- my goal is to always make them proud. My family, Coaches, Friends, even strangers do a great job keeping me motivated to chase my dreams and excel in the game of football.

Favorite Memory from last season?

Our opening game last year was by far my favorite memory of last season. A week 1 home opener against a rival team (Huntley) was a great way to start our season. I remember walking down the ramp to the field and hearing the music blast behind us, the crowd was really into it and trying to get us even more excited, but most of all we came out that night more hungry that I had ever seen us. Though we came up short by 2 points, it was still the greatest memory I have with my team from last year.

What Goal do you have for yourself this season?

Personally, this season I would like to reach my goal of leading the conference in both sacks and tackles. I think that would be a big achievement in the sense that we are a team that pride ourselves on big defensive performances

Better feeling? Getting a sack or making the tackle on 3rd down?

I would have to say Making a tackle on 3rd down. It's a really great feeling to give your offense as many opportunities as possible to score every game, therefore I think coming up big on 3rd down is a better way to rally your teammates and get the momentum swinging your way, especially in bigger games.
