So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams.

Anthony Shockey Class of 2019 Glenbard East Linebacker 6'1 210

COACH BIG PETE'S TAKE

Anthony Shockey is in the top 5 linebackers conversation for the Class of 2019 in Illinois. Mr. Everything Anthony does it all, and even does all the small things right. Fights off blockers to make a play, great pursuit, reads the keys, and can cover like a DB.

Anthony Shockey what schools have you been talking to?

I’ve currently been talking to Western Michigan Wyoming North Dakota Kent State Southern Illinois University Northern Illinois University Illinois State University University of Indianapolis St Cloud State Winona state university University of Sioux Falls Mckendree university University of Mary Holy Cross Princeton University Columbia University University of Pennsylvania Lehigh Minnesota State Moorehead

What part of your game have you been working on during the offseason?

This offseason I have been focusing on my explosiveness, speed, agility, flexibility and on top of that lifting.

Favorite memory from last season?

My favorite memory from last season has got to be my 2nd interception against East Aurora during the 4th quarter.

So what would you like college coaches to know about you?

One thing I would like college coaches to know about me is that no matter what position what team what job I have I’ll work my butt off and that I don’t quit.

So what game are you looking most forward to this coming season?

Definitely looking forward to our Glenbard South game at their place. It’s our crosstown rivalry game. Also looking forward to our home game against West Aurora, last year we fell short but it’s going to be a good game to play also a great game to watch.

Any funny Coach Walters stories?

Funniest thing to me about Coach Walters is we have this little tradition we do for the seniors at the end of their last game all seniors get to grab Coach Walters bald head as they leave for the last time.

This being your senior season coming up, What does that mean to you?

It sucks because time flies it feels like it was just yesterday being a sophomore getting pulled up to varsity. Now I’m heading to my last lesson as a high school football player. It means the world to me I’m not taking anything for granted. My main focus is to work as hard as I can now and improve myself as a player mentally and physically now so that way when the season comes I’ll have success. Senior season for me I have to come out with a bang.

What goal do you have for the season?

I have a couple of goals for this season I wanna be defensive player of the year in my conference and be all-area.
