So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams.
Hayden Workman OL/DL Class of 2019 GCMS 6'3 260
COACH BIG PETE'S TAKE
Going to do something different for this take and talk Gibson City football. Hayden Workman is coming from a very underrated talent wise team. From team with Bryce Barnes to Hayden, this Gibson City team is looking good for the 2018 season. Gibson City for a 2A team sure does look like a 4A team with its size.
What schools have you talked to?
At this point, I haven't talked to any colleges myself. My parents and I are still trying to navigate through all of the steps it takes to be able to possibly play college ball. I know the campus, it's coaches and the classes I will be taking have to be a good fit. I do know I've been working very hard this off season, I will be working hard this summer and all next season in order to make an impression that may send me to the right place. I have a couple places I'm interested in, but nothing narrowed down at this point
What does Gibson City Football mean to you?
GCMS Football is an extended part of my family. So it's a big part of my life. I've been playing with a majority of these guys since third grade. They are like my brothers. Plus, around our small community, football season is a super charged time of year. It's hard not to be constantly excited about the next game.
What is one thing you have been working on in the offseason in your game?
I have been working on building muscle mass and strength. I've put on about 40 pounds by working out with a personal trainer, working with a powerlifting coach and I lift with my team. The weight room has been my second home this offseason.
What goal do you have for yourself this season?
I am constantly trying to improve my game and learn everything I can. My goal though, is to work hard, play to the best of my ability, win games and have fun.
Favorite memory from the State Title Game last year?
Of course a favorite memory of that game was winning it. But, the memory of turning around and seeing the stands filled with GCMS fans was great. Our community was a huge presence in DeKalb that Friday. It was awesome to see from the field.
What game are you looking forward to playing this season?
I really want to look forward to the next State Title game, but we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves, LOL. I'm looking forward to the first game because it gets our season underway and I've been looking forward to my senior season since last season ended.
Name a Gibson City Player that college coaches need to take a look at?
Jared Trantina. He's a great player, teammate and friend. He can lift some massive weight. He can run through a line like crazy. He loves the game of football and works harder than most.
