So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams.
Ian Kuehl DT Class of 2019 Lena-Winslow 6'2 270
COACH BIG PETE'S TAKE
Ian Kuehl is one of those small school linemen who plays both sides of the ball. Kuehl is just a pure competitor who is just a joy to watch especially for any offensive and defensive line coach. High motor linemen with a great burst, and not to mention great character kid.
Ian Kuehl what schools have you been talking to?
I have been talking to Augustana and have sent some recruiting info in to Hillsdale college for football but I have also been talking to West Point for wrestling.
What does NUIC Football mean to you?
NUIC Football to me is a really tough, ground and pound game of football where you never give an inch and take everything the defense gives you. About any team you face from the NUIC is going to be solid and ready to give you a full four quarter game
What should people know about Lena Winslow football, that they might not know?
There isn’t much that people don’t already know about us. I’d say just about everyone knows that we play solid football and are ready to give you a fight every second of the game
Game that you are looking to forward to play this coming season?
I’m looking forward to playing Forreston next year because the past couple of years it’s been us and them in some close games in the regular and post seasons and those are always exciting
How much has wrestling helped your football technique?
I think it’s helped a lot with my hand fighting and being able to use my hands to get on and around people quicker. Wrestling has also helped with my quickness in my feet and being able to get off the ball and into the guy across from me right off of the whistle
Who is player on Lena Winslow we should keep an eye out for?
A player on my team that we should keep an eye out for would definitely be Isaiah Bruce. He’s a big kid who has a crazy amount of speed and a lot of talent and will be a junior this upcoming season so he’ll have even more time to get stronger and faster as his football career continues
Do you have a personal goal set for yourself this season?
My personal goal for this season is to be a better leader for my team and be a good example of what to do on and off the field so that the younger classes know the right way to act and strive to better themselves
