Coach Big Pete's Take
Austin Martineau belongs in the talks with the top QBs in Illinois for the class of 2019. Arm is very good, but not only that Austin has great touch on the ball. Really impressed with his ability to read to defenses find the window to make the play.
Austin Martineau what schools have you been talking to?
North Dakota state and South Dakota state have both been in touch with me. Northern Iowa also came down to see me throw. Harvard talked to my coach today. And Cincinnati invited me out to a game back in the fall.
What does Grayslake North football mean to you?
Grayslake north football is really the only football I’ve ever known so it means the world to me. It’s taught me everything I’ve know about football and the coaches and teammates within it.
What is one thing you like about playing QB, and one thing you dislike?
I like having control over the offense and being the one that can change it if I need to. I really don’t think there’s a thing I don’t like about it.
Favorite moment from last season?
My favorite moment of last season has to be against sycamore when Nick Lovitsch had a 70+ yard TD that he bobbled all the way to the end zone.
Really impressed with your throwing last summer during camp, Is there anything that you could improve in your game?
I think that I could improve the consistency of my game and my arm strength as well and that would help my game a lot.
How has Coach Baker influenced you?
Coach Baker has been very influential for me in my career. He has taught me a ton and brought me to the next level.
What is one Grayslake North player that college coaches need to know but might not know?
Definitely Zach Carter. This kid is the most unbelievable athlete and makes me wonder how he did what he just did sometimes. He’s all over the field.
What is one goal for you this season may it be you or team?
Our goal for this season is always the state title. We have our eyes on it and we want it.
