Sam Rodriguez Class of 2020 WR 6'2 185 Lyons Township

COACH BIG PETE'S TAKE

Sam Rodriguez is a very interesting recruit for the Class of 2020, a player who shows flashes of promise. Ability for perfect hand placement on catches and ability to create space from defenders is what makes him a recruit you want to keep an eye out for.

So Sam Rodriguez what schools have you been talking to?

None really, some schools have sent me brief information about me coming out to there camps this summer.

What is one thing you need to improve in your game?

I would say my quickness on getting off routes. I can work on better cuts getting in and out of my routes to get off the defender quicker. I can also work on my route running and having perfect routes. I need to be more precise on my route I would say. Basically just getting more explosive out of my routes

What are looking forward to most this 2018 Season?

I’m looking forward to playing my first season on varsity and to be getting great experience playing with such good talent. Getting the experience to play under the lights and being with such a great team I will definitely be looking forward to

Have any of the older kids talk to you on what you should prepare for?

Yes, they have told me that I have to work super hard this offseason if we want to win. That varsity is the real deal and is way different than freshman and sophomore. I will be hit hard everyone will be much bigger and faster. I just have to work hard in the weight room and on the field.

What is one game that you are looking forward to?

Im looking forward to all the games this year but one that everyone looks forward to is playing against hinsdale Central are rivals. Its always a tough physical game and just a good game

Name one Lyons Township player that coaches need to look out for?

We have a very strong senior class that is led by JJ Dutton, Sean Rickman, Emmet Cushing, Hareson Willis, and Tyrone Smith plus more. Those guys are good players and I think college coaches should give them more looks.

Why do you like playing football?

I just love the game. There is never a dull moment during football it’s always fun and you make great friends

Favorite Route to run and why?

I like running the slant the best because with the slant you are running into the middle defense where you can make a big play and break some tackles
