Very Informative Chat With Naperville Central Center Luke Hallstrom Class of 2019

So in a way to better understand the use of Deep Dish Football for Illinois recruits and the whole entire IHSA Football scene. Decided to do player profiles of players who you might not know or you might know , but you should respect them for their roles on their respective teams

Luke Hallstrom 6'2 275 Naperville Central Class of 2019 Center

Coach Big Pete's Take

Hallstrom had a great winter in 2017 and made name for himself in those BOOM Showcases. Still surprised he hasn't gotten more looks, great center to low gravity stance with the ability to get under interior linemen.

Luke Hallstrom what schools have you been talking to?

Most recently Miami of Ohio and Western Michigan

Luke you had a great winter in 2017, impressed alot of people... What is one thing you need to work on in your game?

This spring I’ll be working on a lot of skill work in my pass set. After the Midwest Boom best of the best showcase I learned what my weaknesses were in the pass game and I’m working everyday to make myself better. Simple things like not leaning and stopping the bull rush are most crucial as of right now

You are a center, you are snapping the ball to one of the best QBs in the state in Payton Thorne. Do you ever feel the need to ask coaches if you could switch spots with Thorne?

No, I think Payton is where he is because he’s a hell of a player and he’s earned it, and I hope to earn an offer sometime soon. I love playing for the oline in general and I’m just working my tail off to try to get we’re Payton is now. Starting next week I’ll be lifting seven days a week and working skill work every Sunday with boom. I really do love the daily grind as well. It makes me a better person

By the way that was a joke...

Lol I was going to ask that but I didn’t think it was

Lol

So Naperville Central has a great history with offensive linemen, Why do you think that is?

Our coaching staff, specifically Coach Watson. Coach Watson works his tail off for us and expects us to do the same for him in return, and we do. I would not be as good of a player right now, and more importantly a good person if it wasn’t for coach Watson. He can make an offensive lineman out of anyone

Name another Naperville Central Offensive Lineman that College Coaches need to look at?

There are two kids in my class, 2019, that have a lot of potential. Ones name is Byron Skodi, who’s about 6’ 5” and Ryan Walsh who is also 6’ 5” . Both of them have great skill and footwork, they both love basketball so it helps them a lot with footwork to play that. Right now they’re starting to get serious with lifting and gaining weight so I know we’re going to see great things from them in the upcoming season

Its Early.... How does Naperville Central look for 2018?

I think we’re looking great so far. We have a good amount of returning juniors including people like myself, Payton Thorne, and jack Jopes. All of us are great leaders and we have the coaching staff to do great things like NC has done in the past. We’re going to have a large and athletic oline this year which I can’t wait to see what we’re going to do in the run game this year with Danny Hughes running the ball behind us. I think our offense is going to be a tank this year in all honesty. Our defense is looking mighty as well, we just need some d linemen this year. D line is all we’re lacking this year and I think we can fix it with the right people

What do College Coaches need to know about you?

I will work my butt off to play football at the next level. I have a great work ethic, study hard in class and in film. I’m a great student, I received a 4.0 last semester, and I’ve made major gains in the weight room recently. Numbers don’t mean everything, and I hope my film proves that. If coaches have any question about how hard I work or what type of person I am they can ask any coach on the Naperville Central or my strength and conditioning coach at Acceleration sports performance, Mike Niklos
